Platform 2/3 garden renovation

Platform 2/3 garden renovation

Apr 2022

In 2021 the Platform 2/3 gardens were badly damaged as a result of the construction work for the new footbridge and passenger lifts. The gardens are now being renovated by the Friends of Kidsgrove Station and a Community Day was held on 28 April 2022 to give them a much-needed boost.  A team of 16 N Staffs CRP volunteers, plus EMR staff and Mark, the Kidsgrove Ranger dug holes, planted shrubs and shifted dozens of bags of compost and bark chippings.  Thank goodness for the lifts!

Plants have been donated by Pauline Taylor, Marvin Walker (Galliford Try), Fol Hollow Nursery and by some of the Friends.  Funding help was also gratefully received from Kidsgrove Town Council, Ken Lee and N Staffs CRP.  And last, but by no means least, thank you to Network Rail who gave the Friends a cheque for £2000 to help them bring the gardens back to their former glory.
